Contai Science Academy (CSA)  registered under the name ”Oriental Science Academy” has started its journey on the 15th day of February,2015  with active support from some science teachers with a view to enriching confidence and efficiency for science teaching among members.

The Academy primarily aims at upgrading the quality of science teaching and science teachers through a mass Moment by proactive science workers.

The ultimate goal of academy is to assemble  science savvy enthusiast like school, college and university science teachers, research workers and science administrators for noble mission of spreading science education all over West Bengal.

• To work for popularizing science among young learners and promote experiment based science teaching and learning.
• To upgrade the level of teaching and teachers of SCIENCE preferably at school levels and pool and mobilize the talents and resources of teachers.
• To disseminate different concepts and ideas on science before the students through different technology-upgraded approaches and make them tech savvy for better understanding of science.
• To popularize history and science behind different discoveries and natural phenomena.
• To organize lectures, debates, discussions, seminars, workshops, symposiums, quiz competitions, and excursions for wide diffusion of knowledge.
• To set up laboratories for elementary experiments on basic sciences and organize nature camps and sky watching camps for school and college students.
• To publish science periodicals, books or booklets.
• To work in association with any such science organization in the same direction for the interest of our society.

• To move towards becoming a centre of excellence by reaching new heights of innovation in teaching-learning.
• To foster an environment with awareness for environment and consciousness against unscientific beliefs, superstitions where educational, societal and environmental needs are addressed through a holistic programme.
• To help the students make them confident in learning sciences through proper cultivation of scientific temper.
• To cater knowledge on history and philosophy of science for proper understanding of subject.
• To inculcate ethical values and social responsibility among people.

Coupled with the great utterance by Albert Einstein, “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift”, the Academy keeps faith on ‘Innovation’ as is a product of intuitive minds. The motto of our Academy is “Innovation for truth” encapsulating the vision of the Academy entangled with the important comment by Einstein – “Innovation is everyone’s responsibility, not just R & D.” Following the way our vision is also extended to promote and spread that kind of science education that not only offers knowledge, but also arranges for its cultivation and flowering in a natural yet orderly fashion, leading to the development of a society founded on scientific understanding of nature mingled with love for mankind and awareness for protection of nature and environment.
